The following event and its organizing are an important part of moving forward CSAN’s mission and principles. It is the active convergence of combative elements in the unions with an anti-capitalist perspective, coming together to fight against the wave of collaborationism with the boss and government that has had the intent of stamping out the fighting energy of the working class. This convergence serves as an important contribution to building a no-holds-barred, combative labor movement against the bosses and their class.
The Labor Notes 2026 conference is set to take place this coming June, one of the largest inter-union events of the year, attracting workers with a fighting spirit from around the country. Unfortunately, Labor Notes organizers and like-minded union bureaucrats serve not to build the fighting working-class movement they purport to support, but rather to pull those fighting workers into the dead ends of support for the bosses’ Democratic Party and collaboration with the bosses and their government. All of which serves to preserve the very system and power of the class that exploits us: capitalism and the ruling capitalist class.
This has become increasingly apparent since the last Labor Notes conference, in which the Mayor of Chicago spoke, and in the opposition and suppression shown toward workers fighting against the imperialist attacks on the Palestinian working class. And in more recent times, Labor Notes, in their press, encouraging workers to vote and organize for Democratic party politicians, in addition to organizing under Democratic Party-backed and -funded movements and coalitions such as May Day Strong and Indivisible, groups that subsume the fighting energy of the working class in another moment of relentless attacks on workers, from increased arrests and detention of immigrant workers to the rising cost of living in the face of stagnant wages.
If we are to meet this moment and the future of our struggle as economic crisis sets in and the ruling class moves toward wider, more generalized imperialist war, with the fighting power needed to defend ourselves as a class and make gains, we need a fighting labor movement independent from the state and ruling class parties, ready to fight on a basis of independent working-class power.
Thus, this International Workers’ Day, the Class Struggle Action Network in unity with Teamsters Mobilize, Northern California Committee to Organize the Unorganized (IBEW), Transit Workers for a Fighting Union, Committee for One Fighting Transit Union, and Machinist Reform Action Committee, announces the following event:
