Workers in the Class Struggle Action Network mobilized solidarity on the UAW picket line in Beaverton Oregon yesterday and will continue throughout the duration of the struggle. Immediately the fraternal air of solidarity was felt amongst all workers on the line. Picket lines mean do not cross, and workers made that clear blocking managers trying to leave the facility for 45 min earlier in the day.
Workers recall the strike of 2002 in Tigard that lasted 11 months, but ultimately resulted in a win for the workers. Workers at the Chrysler facility understand that to win this battle between them and the auto company they must stay adaptive and look to increase leverage. To these ends, it was learned that the company, knowing the hours of the picket, have been bringing scabs in during hours the strike picket is not present. In response the workers will be expanding the strike hours and days to 24/7. Additionally there is potential of another picket going up at another facility in Portland that would increase the pressure on the company to concede to worker demands.
